If we want children to flourish, to become truly empowered, let us allow them to love the earth before we ask them to save it”
David Sobel
I’ve been actively involved in the environmental education space for the last 5 years as an activist, educator and ecological designer. My work is centred around core principles of love and compassion for earth and each other. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have worked on some life-changing projects in both the UK and Kenya, ranging from designing farm approaches to environmental education, whole school transitions into ecological ways of being, nature curriculum development, community outreach, all the way through to designing a programme for the East African coast and training up facilitators to work with 10,000 children. It’s been a rollercoaster, and I hope I can offer my skills, energy and experience to yet more wonderful projects in the future!

‘Reconnecting Schools to Nature’ – An Environmental Education ToolBox is my first book, and is an incredibly useful companion for this field of work. From teaching methods to site infrastructure and community building, it’s based on my time working with Kivukoni School in Kenya developing a whole-school shift toward ecological ways of being.
These methodologies have been put to the test through the Kaya Project – reforesting the East African Coast with its accompanying education programme which I was asked to coordinate.

Soon to launch is perhaps my most exciting project to-date! A whole school curriculum covering the things we desperately need to be taught in schools:

I’ve had the absolute pleasure of working closely with Kivukoni in Kilifi, Kenya, on everything relating to environmental education. From curriculum design, to the creation of a new eco hub, nature club, and much more. Click here to find out more.
This is a large project funded by the Darwin Initiative and run largely by BGCI and LEAF, to restore the East African coastal forest biodiversity hotspot. I was asked to coordinate the education component of the project. I trained up local environmental educators and designed a programme through which the communities and schools in and around the ancient forests have been receiving holistic, empowering and engaging environmental education, so as to protect the longevity of the restoration work and indeed the forests long into the future. Over the last three years I have been designing and managing the implementation of a holistic learning programme at Warleigh Barton Farm in Devon, UK. Find out more here.
I’ve recently been working on a project to link up schools to their local regenerative farms in the UK, and helping farmers understand how they can be paid to carry out environmental education in holistic, empowering and engaging ways, while also equipping them with the training and resources to do so.
Committed to serving the natural world with my head, heart and hands.
I’m always keen to learn from others in the environmental movement, and to offer whatever I can to help. Please do get in touch and let’s work together to allow nature to thrive once again.
